Not a landslide victory, but still a Win. What we can hope for now is that the next four years will justify the votes of 50% of the US. And that our President will do his utmost to fix/repair/heal the significant ills that face our country.
My heartfelt and fervent wish is that the people who did not vote for Barack Obama will put down their mudslings and do their utmost to support the President. Not a naive wish; it could happen.
Congratulations, Mr. President, make us proud.
I agree it is time to stop the mudslinging and come together. People need have the Congress work with the President so things can get done to continue to help all Americans.

ReplyDeleteI agree. What many forget, both intentionally and not, is the fact that while Clinton had finally managed to balance the budget Bush had totally destroyed everything when Obama took over. He's still cleaning up that mess.

So much is going on in my head. I was hoping for a definite victory so our country wouldn't be torn by weeks of fighting about who legitimately won. I'm so glad this is over. The whole process is so negative. And I hope, hope, hope that our congress can work together and pass a budget bill, and several other things that will make us better - and not spend the next four years campaigning and AFRAID to do anything. (O.K., sometimes I don't think it's "afraid" = I think they are just hateful and don't want to do something good for our country and have the Prez get credit for it on his watch.) I need a drink.
ReplyDeleteso relieved by the results! i think this election shows the divisiveness of our country. gays will be elected, blacks and latinos will serve, women will rule! it is called evolution. whites will become a minority! people should stop fearing change and embrace it! yeah for obama!!!

I am extremely glad that this "politicing" is over but as Jon Stewart said last night, we may have had an election but the we're in for the same f&%$#ng thing for 4 more years. I would love to be hopeful...and I will attempt to be so. But I am also a realist and I would have to say "same old, same old" and would have said so had it turned out the other way as well. Politicians are what they are. Real change is up to ordinary people at the grass roots level,to make the difference in their own lives. In this case it will need to be a trickle up thing.

So glad it is over. Didn't realize how keyed up I was about it. I'm in the minority here and voted for "the other guy", however, I am hopeful that many of us learned that our country as we know it, is changing and we need to change and grow along with it. Tolerance, empathy, grace, generosity, diversity, freedom, acceptance, humility - let's strive for all of that. Ann
