Finally, The Giveaway!!

For weeks now, I have been threatening you all with a Giveaway!! And now it is here. A beautiful Full Moon tonight (called many names: Beltane Moon, Willow Moon, Flower Moon, Seed Moon) makes me want to celebrate with a Giveaway.. This May moon will be 14% brighter! (how do they calculate these things, anyway?). This would be a spectacular time to charge all your magickal tools, stones, jewelry..whatever you wish. I like to charge water for ritual use during a Full Moon. Just place your items outside where they will receive the full glow of the Moon.

Earth, Air, Fire & Water by my favorite Wiccan author, Scott Cunningham. An amazing and useful book for learning how to incorporate these four elements into spellwork and rituals. Scott was a gentle, down-to-earth person who wrote very personally and personably. His concern for his readers made his books genuine, accurate and unique.

When is a book not a book? When it is a beautifully disguised storage box. You can put all kinds of trinkets into this neat box-that-looks-like-a-book.

A candle that smells like summery gardens: Lavender and Chamomile scented. And a folder of blank note cards and envelopes with beautiful summer flowers on the front of each card.. Let's bring the art of letter writing back into use. Don't you just love to get a handwritten note? Well, to get on, write one!!!

Here's a sweet little figurine of a robin. Just so you can have a reminder of someone who thinks the world of you.

Monday Medley

The snowpack is melting after a relatively mild Sunday, though we are preparing for another storm headed our way. The deck and porch are clear, the bird feeders are full, baking supplies are laid in, and the Yule tree light situation has been sorted out!  Good, positive energy is flowing through the house!

I am excited that there will be a Full Moon on Yule! That is a double bonus for us Wiccans. We love the Full Moon, a time to honor the Goddess and work magick. To have a Full Moon occur on a major Sabbat, such as the Winter Solstice....well, that just gives me goosebumps!! This is one of the reasons that make me love being Wiccan: that Nature is always ready to give you a boost, to give new energy, to acknowledge the connection we have with Nature, Earth, and the Universe! There is never a dull moment. Always something wonderful to celebrate, every single day!

Our Yule Tree, not quite finished

I have enjoyed reading the blogs I follow over the last week..everyone is sharing their Yule preparations, recipes, crafts, beautiful photos! It is a real pleasure being part of this Blog Community. I appreciate every single one I read! And I am amazed at the fact that I now have 39 followers! How cool is that! I am planning a giveaway soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Oh, Lucky Me!

Trumpets blaring! Drums are rolling! Look at all the confetti flying in the air!  I won! Yes, I did! Day 21 of Mrs. B's 31 Days of Halloween. I have a button on my blog for her contest (I had it before October 1st). Click on it to enter her contest...it runs for 9 more days! I can not tell you the thrill I felt when I saw I had a won. And I won a great prize, a book (one of my favorite things). A book from Weiser Books written by Judika Illes called Magic When You Need It, 150 spells you can not live without. Now that is something I can live with!!! Thank you, thank you Mrs. B, for the great contest, and the opportunity to visit many different blogs.

Full Moon Esbat tonight. It is the Blood Moon, also called Falling Leaf Moon by the Native Americans. What's an Esbat, you say? An esbat is a lunar ritual, an observance of the moon in one of its phases. Each phase holds a special power for magickal workings. The moon also is special because it is a symbol of the Goddess. Our beautiful Goddess, shining silvery white in the dark sky. We ask the Goddess to bless our magick, to guide us, and to add her power to our spells.

A full moon task

A full moon is a glorious sight to a Wiccan. It is also sacred, and there are many beautiful ways to honor the Goddess during full moon rituals. The moon is a symbol of the Goddess. Phases of the moon represent aspects of the Goddess: Maiden, the new moon, Mother, the full moon and Crone, the waning moon. In ritual Wiccans can appeal to these various aspects of the Goddess for assistance with various needs, problems, celebrations, meditations....whatever workings are at hand during whatever phase of the Moon.

Last night was a perfect time for me to take advantage of the clear sky and beautiful full moon shining down on my garden. Water, one of the Four Elements (earth, air and fire, the other 3) is crucial for purifications spells, protection spells, and other tasks. The energy and power from a Full Moon is just what I wanted to "charge" a pitcher full of water for use in ritual and spells. I simply set it out on a table on my deck, said a few words to the Goddess, and left the pitcher there all night. This morning I have a pitcher of water that I will use for cleansing and consecrating some tools I have recently acquired, as well as renewing protection spells around the house and garden.
