Merry Meet and Merry Part, and Merry Meet again

So, It's Over?

They killed Osama bin Laden! As an American, I do feel satisfied. But I can not say I feel elated. Perhaps if this had happened a few weeks, or months after that terrible day I would be giddy with justice service. Yes, justice has been served. He hid like a desert rat for years from the fate he deserved. But, allow me a lurid metaphor: evil hatred is a many-headed beast; cut one head off, another grows back. After ten years of sowing the seeds of this evil, there is more than one of these beasts. We certainly can not think we are safe, even though the world is better off without bin Laden himself living and hating in it.

The news says this provides closure for the families who lost loved ones that day. I hope so. Maybe they will find a little bit of peace. We will take a moment of peace whenever we can.

But, we all know this does not end the evil. It is not over. And that is why I really can not jump for joy about the death of bin Laden.

Well said. Things are not as simple as we would want them to be.
I too hope it brings closure to those that lost someone that day.

Robin, this was an eloquent post. You put down the words on how I feel. Yes, this evil needed to be removed. It is for those lives lost in innocence and those lives given in service that I hope will now rest well. Peace to you and all around us. Sea Witch

I think, at least, this is a step in the right direction. "The real differences around the world today are not between Jews and Arabs; Protestants and Catholics; Muslims, Croats, and Serbs.  The real differences are between those who embrace peace and those who would destroy it; between those who look to the future and those who cling to the past; between those who open their arms and those who are determined to clench their fists".  ~ William J. Clinton, 1997

Robin, everything you said, is so true! All, I do hope, is that the people who lost loved ones, this will bring them a little peace ;o)

I quite agree! I can't shake the feeling that sooner or later, another "beast" will rear it's ugly head as we must consider the source, but we must, as you have said, take whatever peace we can get. I, too, hope that the families can now have some kind of closure to their unthinkable tragedy.

And I will continue to pray for peace.

Blessed be,

Kim

Unfortunately, so true. I hope it brings peace to those who have lost loved ones and all of those brave souls, but it's far from the end.

I never like it when someone gets killed, even if they might deserve it ( but I do understand the feelings of joy many in the Us have now).

He was rather unpopular now days even in the arabic world and this might just make him a martyr and start things again. But I do hope that the revolutions in the arabic world takes all the energy away from terrorism.
