Turn Off the Heat, Open the Windows!

Apologies to dear friends in snowy, frigid Sweden and blizzardy prairies of Canada. Here in Syracuse today we have bright sunny skies and it is almost 70 degrees F. I am blissful. Though I do like cold snowy weather around Yule, it is lovely to have a day like this to throw open the windows and let the balmy breezes blow through the house. This gives me an opportunity to do a special ritual for cleansing. Working with the wind can be a little iffy, because it is so fickle. Blowing first one way, than another, then ceasing all together. But grab the opportunity when you can. I love how the house feels after a windy day ritual. It smells divine too!

One of the craft stores I go to is having a special 50% sale on all their Christmas supplies. Boy, howdy did I go a little nuts!! Decking the halls is a little challenging this year with kittens amongst us. So I am looking vertically and high for decorating. These little cats are jumpers...leapers...climbers. We shall see! I will keep you posted. I did buy a small artificial tree to put on a table top. It will have soft or wooden ornaments. I am sure they will be fascinated by it. I just don't want to risk our usual big fresh tree; worried about the kittens ingesting needles, drinking up the tree water, climbing up and inside and all around.

The next few days will be busy with decorating, crafting and other Yule-themed activities. I think I have gotten a bit of the Spirit of the Season simmering. That's a good thing!

How is December treating you so far?

Show us photos when you're done decorating! Before the kittens attack everything, of course.

I applaud you working with the elements like this....but to such warm temps on a December day, I say "bah humbug!"

I agree with Debra....pre kitty arranging photos would be cool...
The reason I have not decks any of our halls is Ms. Cybella....she and the little dog have taken to rearranging normal things as they perform their tag team wrestling events. But the grands want to set up the tree on Thursday so.....holding my breath, we forge on.

This weather is amazing, isn't it? And I think you are warmer than us. Years ago I began lining the bottom of the tree with cow bells, and it has worked. In the beginning, the bell would ring and she would run like heck. Then, through the years she stopped even trying to climb the tree.

I thought I was having a hot flash this morning about 4 -- then I thought I was paralyzed. Finally I figured out my husband had dumped all the covers on me. When it's hot at 4 a.m. (and the heater was not on) it's too hot. I didn't realize it was warm in your neck of the woods. Good luck with the decorations and the kitties.

South Florida has been beautiful. Aside from a few isolated showers, the weather has held at around 70 degrees as well, sunny and crisp. I love this weather!!!!!!

Lucky you having great weather! This morning we had a -25 celcius wind chill. I think that's about -13 farenheit. Its just cold. Send some good windy blessings our way for some mild winter weather!

Lol - you may be wondering where all my comments went on your last post! I initially thought my comments hadn't gone through, so I left another, then I attempted to delete the duplicates and ended up deleting them all :D Oh well!!

Wish we had your weather for a few days! Kittens are a real challenge around Christmas time for sure.

Make sure you show us everything, when you are finished! It's so much fun decorating! Glad you got a 50% off sale! It's been warm here too! I don't think we are going to get snow for Christmas! I hope, just a little ;o) December has been going well, but it has been going fast! I know it's only the 4th today, but I still feel it going by! Robin, when you open your booby prize (brown packaged), you will understand why I said that later, please open it carefully, on the edges with the more padding. Cut across ;o) Big Hugs ;o)

It was 39 celsius here today, which is about 102 fahrenheit, so I'm not enjoying December so far. It better cool down around here soon or I'm going to have to go all Bah Humbug on the old Aussie christmas!

Decorating for any holiday can be challenging (to say the least!) when there are young babes in the house. :0) Please share your decorating with us....
The weather has been super crazy this year. We've had unseasonably warm weather this year. And the mountains are suffering from lack of snow. Supposed to get a storm come in later this week, so hopefully it brings some moisture!

There is nothing like having the windows open on a windy day and having all the "yuck" blown out of the house! My December has been hectic thus far, but today I've lazed around catching up and getting some decorations out of storage. Still debating about getting a tree... I had one cat, who sadly left us a couple of years ago, who was a rascal when it came to the Christmas tree. She would wait until night time and then climb up the center of it - CRASH! Because she was black we couldn't see her in the tree and she would often perch in there unnoticed. How I miss that girl! Ann
