Summer Ups and Downs

Please accept my apologies for my very long absence. It is shameful to not at least check in with everyone. It has been a summer of ups and downs, with the downs outnumbering the ups. Having said that, I will simply say that my absence from blogging in no way reflects upon my blog love, my blog friends or blogging in general. I thank those who have emailed me to ascertain the well-being of me and my family.
My husband has had some setbacks so that has been a primary source of anxiety, which leads to depression and a sense of helplessness.

The marigolds and snapdragons doing beautifully
So though things are not at 100%, I do not want to dwell on our problems, and will simply say we are doing the best in the circumstances.

Glorious hydrangeas that need trimming
How are all y'all??!!! I have missed you. I will be visiting blogs again this week and catching up on everybody! Hope the summer has been good to you. We have definitely had strange weather, but not complaining lately, as it has been cooler than normal.

Arctic blue willow shrub is taking over the yard!

We have been traveling around the area on the weekends and enjoying summer scenery, antiquing, enjoying new restaurants and pubs. This part of New York state has unbelievably beautiful farm land, forests, lakes and many historical sites. Discovering more of this state has easily increased our love of the area. We are also searching for property to buy...some wooded acreage in a beautiful spot. We have looked at a lot of places. Soon we should be deciding. It will start as just a "camp" for summer weekends, then eventually we will build a home.  It has been a marvelous escape from the "downs", and gives us goals to plan for.

A property in Sodus, NY we looked at
A woodsy 9 acres in Sterling NY
Lovely 5 acres in another part of Sterling. Uhh,  a marijuana grower's former property!
We are going out again this weekend to look at a very promising six acres in Hannibal, NY. This one could be The One.

So, a brief catch-up. I will be back tomorrow to show you some of my wonderful flea market/antique shop finds.

Take care, and I look forward to once again returning to my wonderful blog world. Hugs from Robin!!!

Pixie has found the summer very exhausting

Sometimes life just gets in the way of blogging and that's fine. It has priority! Sorry to hear that your husband's recovery has hit a speed bump or two. But hopefully all will be well in the long run. Having goals and plans for the future can really brighten todays!

I have missed you, my friend. I'm sorry hubby had some setbacks and hope that all is well at this time. No need to apologize for your absence. I'm the one who needs to apologize. I've been so wrapped up with my own crap, I didn't write. Please accept my apology.

Marijuana grower or not, I kind of like the third one. At least you know you will be able to have a garden grow well there.

Robin, I have been a tad absent myself due to moving and my daughters' recovery so I can understand a lot of your feelings. I am sorry to hear of the setbacks and hope that with each one he has been able to inch forward a bit. He and you have been through so much and it's bound to take a toll mentally as well as physically. My daughter's recovery has had it's ups and downs and the downs definitely get to all involved.

I am excited to follow your property search, which will be a wonderful, positive thing for you to focus on. One day this will be in the past and your present will be wonderful. Ann

No apologies needed, I missed you too, Robin! OOOOO Sterling! *sigh* I miss that area; hubby and I spent many a summer day and night there for the Ren festival as well as in nearby Warwick for the drive-in and apple fest.

Our summer has been pretty good, very rainy and very mosquito filled! But as it's kept the temperatures down here a bit cooler, I won't complain. :)

Your flowers are gorgeous! And the Willow is amazing! You definitely have a green thumb and the plants are thriving under your love and care. My your Hubby do the same!

Beautiful countryside! I know your perfect spot will be waiting for you. Hubby & I logged a lot of miles when looking for our little spot of paradise. But it was worth it!
Keeping you in my thoughts and sending warm wishes (and hugs) your way! ♥

Hi Robin! I found you through Stacy's blog today and I guess this was a good time to visit. I hope all will be well with you and yours soon. This has been an up n down summer for so many people.

I loved looking at your pics. I'm from Ohio originally but spent lots of time in upstate NY where my grandma lived. Your pictures bring back memories. I will be back visiting soon. Rasz
