A very early morning on the day we should be able to sleep in. Labor Day holiday indeed. My hard-working hubby to the airport at an ungodly hour; off to very far away places for a week. The drive back from the airport rather nice, hardly any traffic and a most beautiful sunrise.
Today will be spent thinking about apples. September is all about apples. New York state grows many fine types of apples, and they should be ripe for picking, even though a large percentage of the crop was destroyed during a freakish hot spell in April, followed by three hard frosts. So many delicious apple recipes. I hope to share one or two here with you.
Enjoy a safe Monday. Summer is unofficially over. No complaints here.

ahhhhhh...apple time! have you ever made my mabon cake? i got the recipe from a norwegian witch and have been making it for a long long time. i need to make an apple pie too. now if the temps would just drop!
We have an apple tree in our backyard -- it produces very small apples, not crabapples, just small regular apples. So far we've enjoyed apple crisp and apple jelly from it, all made by a friend of ours who picked a whole bunch.
LOL! Yes, it is Labor Day indeed! Although I do not plan to take it literally, mind you if at all possible ... ;)
Love apples, always have and yet another reason to love Mabon so much!
Blessings for a relaxing rest of the day!

Apple time....yum. The drought did a real number on the apples of Northern NM and the wild fires dealt the final blow to our favorite orchard last year. So we will just have to catch as catch can. But I do adore apple anything.
Hope your today is spectacular.....OmaLinda
I've had apples on my mind as well. Perhaps it is thoughts of fall. Actually, though, as the summer fruits wind down, I have been thinking about how I will incorporate the fall fruits into my new diet. I've never been much of a fruit eater and really don't like the fall fruits very much. So, I have been spending the weekend sorting through recipes.

So many things I love about september and coming Autumn. Apples amoung them. Mom's Apple Crisp, apple jelly, apple butter, pie. Im hungry.
Our apples will start to ripen late this month and I have lots of them this year, that means lots of apple pies :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.
Well, now I'm thinking about apples, too. Candied apples, baked cinnamon apples, apple pies... yum!
I LOVE the tastes and colors of autumn ;-)
We love apples in our house! We have friends who have several trees of different varieties and we are lucky to be on the receiving end of the harvest.
Hi my friend ;o) I hope you are having a great day ;o) A lot of our apples are gone because of the heat and bad frosts. They said on the news, what apples survived, will be very pricey. Mom and I will be visiting our favorite apple place and crossing our fingers ;o)
I saw this on a blog I follow and thought you would enjoy the story ;o) Big Hugs ;o)

I am thinking apple pie with ice cream ;-) And you know what, I am not the slightest sad about the end of summer.
My post tomorrow is going to be about our apple harvest.
