Frosty Friday--Yule Plans & Kitten Feet

Very bright sunshine this morning which makes the frost everywhere shine like diamonds. Blinding for driving, of course, but still very beautiful  I love how everything shimmers and can't help but think we are living in a faery world Truly magickal!

Meanwhile, in the mundane world, my lists of things to do is ever-growing as I negotiate this Yuletide season. Some things get done, but the lists don't grow any shorter! I am excited though, that next week is the Winter Solstice and our family will be having our delightful celebration.

At this moment, the kittens are racing through the house, up and down, over boxes and bags of secret purchases. There is no pitter-patter of little feet by any means. These two little cats sound like a heard of elephants as they run up and down the stairs, through the kitchen, a quick stop to look at the patio door, then, with tails in the air, they zoom into the living room, up to their window perch, down the stairs to the family room where they begin again. Pixie throws her catnip mouse in the air, pouncing on it, attacking it and rolling around the floor clutching the thing in her mouth. Pyewacket isn't enthralled with the mouse the way Pixie is. He pounces on Pixie as if she were a catnip mouse.. Thank goodness for those surgeries they had last month, is all I can say!!!

On the agenda today: wrapping and packing up gifts to mail (yes, I am behind schedule), making out the shopping list for Yule Dinner (Cornish hens as the main course) and all kinds of little tasks that have waited this week. I am thriving in orderly chaos!

Big item on the to-do list: Find a beautiful oak log for our Yule fire ritual. We always have a small piece of the Yule log from last year which we use to light this year's fire. The new log is decorated and adorned with holly, evergreen branches, paper garland, pine cones, sage, rosemary, cedar. A special part of our ritual involves each of us writing our wishes on paper for the New Year and then throwing these wishes on the Yule log, to be taken up the chimney in smoke, out into the Universe. With proper intent, we know these wishes will come to fruition.

Just one of the things I am looking forward to. Family time in sacred space on Yule.

Now off to the races, kitten ones that is!! Have a wonderful day!!

The "faery" ice forest is my favorite winter scene!!

Oh, kittens, like kids are only small for so long (although my cat was a kitten forever) so it's fun to watch them delight in little things. I think they teach us lessons....

Good luck with your busy holiday tasks!

Oh my goodness, what a fun way to start my morning...by listening to the adventures of Pixie and Pyewacket! He He He

I'm making Cornish Hens too Robin!!
Why make a big turkey or ham when you can have these tasty little hens? Your photo looks delish!

And I love your Yule Log photo...I too write down my intentions for the New Year but since I don't have a firepit or fireplace I place them in a Burning Bowl...and light a Yule Candle from the previous year's candle.

Sounds like you are moving at breakneck speed and enjoying yourself along the way! Only a few short days till Solstice Now.
Do have a perfectly wonderful time with your family Dear Heart!

I'll be thinking of you! :)

Merry and Blessed Yule

Morning BB. Sounds like your plate is full of Yule delish. Lots to do is better than being bored...or so they tell me.
Kittens, I still think we need one but the powers that be are telling me to wait until spring and then we'll see. Don't these two (adults) realize that the kids and I can't wait?????
Hope you get that fabulous sounding oak yule log. The intentions wrapped up in it certainly would make for a wonderful start to the season.
Be kind to yourself about your "doings", have a super weekend, XOXO Oma Linda

So fun to watch the antics of 'kitty kids'! Enjoy them while they are little. :0)
I know you are looking forward to the family get-together. Just remember to take some time for yourself & don't worry about the things that don't get done!

We always encouraged people to take two kitties when we bred - they are such fun to watch and good company for each other.
Over here we are getting ready for Summer Solstice.

We had dreary rain all day here today, quite a contrast to yours. :) Good to see your furry playmates are back causing mayhem! ;)

Sounds like a very pleasant observance.

It's amazing how much noise two small cats can make :-)

I'll get a busy week next week. I'll have to do most of the grocery shopping for the Yule week, Sune is having his surgery and I don't want to leave the cottage with or without him as long as he has stitches.

If he doesn't try to remove them there are three other dogs that will help him do it :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

I can very well imagine two kitties sounding like a herd, since my one older cat manages to sound like quite a crowd herself! I love your tradition with the Yule Log, what a wonderful thing to do year after year. Ann
