Old Fashioned Comfort

This rainy dreary Sunday fits the mood, I think, of most people still reeling from the horror and shock of the event in Connecticut this past Friday.  My thoughts seldom stray from the families of the victims.

It seems frivolous to think about wrapping gifts, baking and decorating. To laugh and chatter, singing along with favorite music. Saying that "life goes on" sounds heartless. But life does go on, the sun rises and sets, the stars shine, we breathe and we grieve. Focusing on the "whys" is pointless. Evil exists and crosses the paths of innocents daily.

Today I am wrapping presents, decorating and singing along with some great music. My heart and mind and spirit are sad. Centering on old-fashioned, comforting tasks, hugging my family, spoiling the pets and being thankful and appreciative of every small moment is my way of coping with situations beyond my understanding.

Sending thoughts of comfort and love out into the Universe. Blessed be.

Yes way sad, but I still believe there is more good people in the world. I wish the news would focus more on the people that do good.

Robin, I think there comes a time when people do have to move forward. It doesn't mean we aren't thinking of all who were lost and the ones they left behind, but if we don't forge ahead, then we cannot use our sorrow and anger for change and improvement. Thanks for a heartfelt post. Ann

We all need to feel for the loss and the people touched by it but regaining a positive place is what we are called to do to cope with the loss.
I have seen lots of comments on the blogs that give in to the negative. I wish I had a giant remote to keep the news media from slaying us with the repeated ugliness. It is enough that we know it happened, we do not need to relive it every 10 minutes.
Stay positive, helpful, hopeful and wise my dearest BB.....it's our job. Oma Linda

Yes life does go one like nothing ever has happened when we all just want everything to stop.

We can't turn back time and stop what has happened but we can try to stop anything like this ever happen again.

I can't even imagine what those families are going through now.
