April Arrives

Welcome to April! Except today, we are having heavy snow, already about 8 inches! Not funny, no.

Still I loved turning the calendar over to a spring-y picture, and seeing dates like Earth Day, Arbor Day and Beltane.

Over the last couple of days, my husband has made good progress. Almost all IVs are gone, and he is able to take oral meds. No longer on oxygen, hurray! He is walking three times a day now. His main problem right now is having no appetite and he needs to eat. Hospital food being what it is, though, can you blame him?!? He has been on a special nutritional IV for almost two weeks, so they are reducing the calories in that, and hoping to stir up his appetite.  He is beyond crazy about Syracuse University basketball, and since SU has made it to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament, he has really perked up. Amazing what a few guys playing ball can do for the spirit. (And healing light goes out to the Louisville player who broke his leg horribly during the game the other night!)

I am happy to say things are looking up and I actually think we will be having a great Spring.

Blessed be!!   Robin.

I am so glad to hear about hubby's steady improvement. Soon he will be home. I'm wondering if you might ask the doctor about Marinol for his appetite. It's basically made from the part of marijuana that gives you the munchies, minus the THC. It really revs up the appetite. (((Hugs)))

I always found that breakfast in the hospital was the tastiest meal. They can't hurt boxed cereal, toast and juice. Lunch was passable, again because it's hard to screw up soup and a sandwich. Dinner was always inedible because that's when the hospital kitchen actually cooked something. Meat and 2 veg in a hospital is disgusting.

I'm so glad your husband is doing well. Does he have a favourite food that you could sneak into the hospital to tempt him to eat?

Good news :-)
What is it with hospital food? Have all hospital kitchens all over the world taken the same course in "How to make food boring and tastless" Only once I've really liked it and that was a rhubarb soup and I've been to hospital too many times :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

So happy to hear that there is light at the end of your husbands' medical tunnel. I would think that getting out of the hospital would be a great incentive to eat whatever it takes to heal up & get the heck out of there. Maybe if he got some favorite take out or something you make from home would be more tempting. Tapioca is a great source of protein & calories if he will eat this at all.
I bet you are relieved & looking forward to never commuting to that hospital again. Tell Hubby that he needs to think of food as the medicine he needs to take if he wants to get back home.
Take care.

This is so good to hear, Robin. If I wasn't so bummed by the Florida Gators' poor showing against Michigan I would work up some enthusiasm for Syracuse. Nope! I can work it up anyway. And that poor Louisville player. Loved the way everyone in that arena pulled together for him after getting over the shock. So, Syracuse/Louisville final?

Hope he gets that appetite back soon.

Fantastic news!!! I am so happy Robin! Spring is here and things are truly looking up! In the hospital, I was only a loud to drink soup! Nothing in it! When I came home, that's when I started to eat. Tell hubby, as soon as he starts eating, he can come home ;o) Big Hugs and Many Blessings ;o)

Thanks for passing along good news. So glad to hear your husband is well enough to NOT like the food served in hospital (shows he's got a sound mind!).

Wonderful news Robin!! I'm so glad to hear of your hubby's progress. Hospital food isn't the best for sure. You really do have to be hungry to eat it! :)

This is good news! Don't worry, he will get his appetite back once he gets home and has more exercise. Keeping you in my thoughts!

Yes, Robin that is so wonderful to hear about your hubby's steady recovery. I am so happy to hear. Somehow the gremlins that got into my computer stopped my feed of your blog. I have set it right. I was wondering why I hadn't heard anything and got worried.
Hugs and Sparkles my friend.
