Back To the Hospital

Yesterday (April 25th) I took my husband for a CT scan and today we received the results. There is another abscess and all this drainage he has been enduring from three sites is from that abscess. This explains his failure to grow stronger, the complete loss of appetite and inability to eat and the loss of close to thirty pounds in the last month! He has been experiencing a lot of pain from the infected sites.

So the doctor said he must be admitted to the hospital ASAP, started on intravenous antibiotics, etc and prepare for another procedure to find and treat the abscess, which is hiding out in a portion of his intestine.

He is such a trooper even with all of this added misery. We have had to change his dressings several times a day over the last week due to the drainage (sorry about the "ick" factor). Right now he looks like the merest shadow of his former self. We want to get him strong and healthy because golf season is here!!

This is not the news I wanted to be blogging about! I was hoping by this time he would be so much better and able to go out and help me choose a small tree or two that we could plant for Arbor Day today. My son was looking forward to digging a hole and getting a tree into the ground. I hope someone out there planted a tree today!!!

All for now; hopefully back soon with better news!  Bright blessings from Robin.

I pray the doctors can find and treat the abscess without much difficulty. I pray that his next tree home is the one towards recovery (and towards golf playing).

He is a trooper and he has a warrior by his side, you'll get through this, Robin. Together, you will...

Well, that development is a sonovabitch. Hopefully this will be the last complication he has to endure and after this, it will be clear sailing ahead! Sending hugs and best wishes to all.

Oh Robin! This just keeps on going - not great news but if this is what needs doing for him to get 100% better, then the treatment is the right thing. Keep strong, love to you both!

As a Jersey girl, Fuckin' A. That's bummer news Robin. :( I pray the doctors can sort this out and get him ready for golf season quick as can be. I can only imagine how tiring this has been for both of you and I'm continuing to send you both so much love and strength.

I had forgotten all about arbor day with the flu in the house, but I think I'll go to the nursery today and find a tree to plant in honor of you two.

How frustrating for all of you. I will be hoping that the docs can set this all straight so your husband can start healing and gaining strength properly. No ick factor, just reality. He must be an incredibly strong man, both inside and out - this has been a long haul and I know it is hard on you as well. Stay strong, Robin. Ann

I am so sorry to hear this news. Good gravy doctors, get your shit together and fix this!

I pray this time will do the trick. You both must be exhausted. Golf schmolf - be healthy enough to eat and sleep :D Then go chase little white balls <3

oh my Robin... I can't imagine going through all these crap... She truly is a trooper. It just sucks when you feel that it might finally be over and there you go back to the fighting again. I am keeping my positive vibes. And make sure to take care of yourself too.

Oh sweet Robin, you two have been through so much in these past months. Hopefully this round of antibiotics, with the hopes to have found the source, will see you both to better days. You are always in my evening candle blessings sweetie. Sending warm hugs and love, Mina

Sorry to hear he's going back to the hospital (it's time like this when the expression 'doctors practice' hits a little to close). Take care of yourself.
