Treasures and Pleasures--Part Deux

Continuing on with my show and tell of collectibles found throughout our New York state travels:

Old milk jug
Everyone needs one of these, right?

Heavy brass hunting dog (with a saddle?)

sweet little McCoy-wannabe vase

Decoupaged swallows on a background of found moth and butterfly wings (dated 1942)

adorable fruit dishes from '30s, bluebirds and flowers

Made in England, platter (Finlandia pattern?) My dear Canadian aunt had this whole set

Crazy about old brown transferware, also made in England

A true gem! Handmade tablecloth, tiny cross stitch, almost 100 years old

Not old, found at a roadside stand, but very quackable!!

Very old hand cut woodpecker to put on a tree
As you can see I have various interests and odd tastes in collectibles. It's the quest, you know. One never knows what one might come across. In your comments, can you describe one of your most unusual finds?  I would love to hear about it!!

Happy Friday!! A long weekend for Labor Day!  Enjoy, be safe, stay well!!!

Good stuff Robin. Love the quacker. It's not that it was unusual but rather kinda shocking really. I had gone to a huge children's charity bazillion item rummage sale. I was looking through some old papers and pictures when I came to a photo of a young boy. It looked just like my brother. So I turned it over to see if there was any notation on it and it was of my brother from 3rd grade in Dyersburg, Tenn. I don't know how it got there and no one else could give me an answer but it was kinda goose flesh inducing. Some 70 something years after the photo was taken.I can't imagine that my Mom would have gotten rid of a child photo of my brother and they moved here from Tenn a year after the photo was taken.......so who knows. But it was a fun find.

Wow, you got yourself some rather lovely things! I love the old milk jug, looks almost like Fiesta ware?

One of the best things that I ever found at a yard sale was about 35 years ago. It is a stylized verdigris owl with an inset portrait of the Goddess Athena. Probably a reproduction of some ancient artifact. I suspect it was a souvenir from Greece but it had broken off its marble base and so was sold as junk. I got it for a song but when I finally did get around to having a new marble base put on about 5 years ago, it cost me 50 bucks. Oh well, worth every penny! It's one of my favourite Goddess representations.

Holy Cow, Linda! That is a Twilight Zone story, and very goose-bump rippling! Thanks for sharing!

Great findings!

My most unusual bought is a bed that looks like a small table. One folds it out and even if it's only 8 inches wide as folded it becomes almost 6 feet long unfolded :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

Hey! I like the eclectic nature of your finds. Dog with saddle, hmmmmm, of course you had to get that! I love the plates with the birds and the cross-stitch table cloth. Looks like retail therapy was fun. Ann

Hey Robin, more great finds! I would love to see your house! Maybe I could go shopping in your house? LOL! I don't know if it's unusual, but this was one of my best finds. The people said it was over 100 years old and probably made by a farmer for his wife. It's a horse shoe, but inside there is a metal heart. All welded together! All hand forged! Beautiful! I love it! Big Hugs ;o) Have a great long weekend ;o)(That was amazing with Oma Linda!)

You found some real treasures. :0) The picture of the birds on the found wings is remarkable. I do miss the yard sales we went to in Arkansas....
