Normal is on the Way

Here we are, the last Friday in February. What a crazy month for weather here. March better behave itself and begin a fast trek to Spring. I'm just sayin'.

My husband has begun his trip back to complete physical normalcy. He had Phase 1 this week of preliminary testing to prepare for what we hope is the last surgery. He has been dealing with an ileostomy for many months now, and after a few more tests the surgeon will be scheduling the "reconnect" (of his small intestine). And then, he will be done with this over-two-year tribulation. Thankfully and at long last!!

Thoughts are turning to the blooms of Spring. Looking for color! The landscape is bleak and harsh right now. Those blackish snow banks everywhere. Won't it be wonderful when bulbs burst into full flower!!

My reading marathon continues. My son keeps busy shoveling and clearing the cars of snow. Hubby is working daily and we all enjoy the woodstove and the fireplace. The cats love the warmth, but our dog Gwennie gets scared by the popping and sparking of the fire. I guess it is too much like fireworks on Independence Day, poor little thing!

Keep safe and cozy.  Robin.

Your tulips look wonderful! With the winter so harsh, it's almost impossible to imagine colors and flowers and warmth.

All the best wishes to you husband. May he have a quick recovery. :)

I've forgotten what normalcy is. That is great news about your husband. He has been through so much. In fact, both of you have. I know because my husband is sick as well, and I know how it affects us.

Thanks for your kind words this morning. I never realized this would be so hard. I knew it was coming. After all, she almost lived 23 years, but one can never be prepared.

Thanks again.
Mary

Glad to hear that your husband's long ordeal will finally come to a much-welcomed conclusion.

Oh, and FYI, your comment on my blog today made me pee my pants.

We continue to have a mild winter and the first cranes arrived two days ago. I haven't seen or heard them yet but if this weather continues more will soon arrive :-)

Snowdrops are in bloom and I can see lots of other bulbs looking up now. Way too early but these are tough ones that can take a setback.

There's nothing like a fire place when winter hits hard :-)

I'm so glad that Your husband soon will be back in health again!

Have a great day!
Christer.

You must be very happy to know that your hubby's epic surgical exploits are about to end. You & he have certainly been through the ringer with all the complications that happened. I hope his last surgery goes well & he recovers quickly.

Here in Portland the cherry blossoms are at their peak & tulips, daffodils are popping up a month ahead of schedule. Since we really had no winter weather this year. Didn't even wear a winter coat except for a few days in Nov.. The birds are already hatching babies & gardens are being planted. I hope spring reaches you very soon. I know you could use some warm weather after your long cold winter. Glad the kittens enjoy the warmth of the wood-stove. Poor Gwennie afraid of the noise. Hopefully, she can find another quiet spot for a nap.
