Gwennie The Sheltie Speaks Up

Hello, Gwennie here. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I am making an effort to tolerate my feline housemates. It is difficult for me because my previous housemate, MacKenzie Cat used to torment me with his presence. We did not get along at all.

Now these upstart "kittens", as Mom calls them, are double the torment and irk me to no end. Mom talks in funny voices to them and gives them treats and toys and all kinds of attention. Even my dear sister, Lexie, may she rest in peace, used to PLAY with them, can you imagine the indignity.

But I have tried to put my best paw forward and have "allowed" Pyewacket to sniff noses with me. And he has a tendency to rub his furry body against mine, letting his tail fondle itself around my back. Almost unbearable, but I did NOT bark or try to bite him (that time).

Just wanted to set the record straight that I am being as indifferent as I can to their advances. I will attempt to tolerate these irritating friendly housemates, but do not expect me to be overly enthusiastic about it.

No, they are not cute. Do NOT trust them a minute. I mean it.

Gwennie, if you can't beat them, join them. Keep your chin up. It will get better.

Gwennie -
It is a very noble gesture on your part to put your best paw forward & try to be more accepting of those annoying nip-crazy young cats.I think you may secretly relish those nose kisses, headbutts and the way they lovingly brush their soft furs against you. Sure there are times there they may push your buttons & test your patience, but you can handle it because you are a DOG.
Try to remind yourself that these furballs give your Mom lots of reasons to laugh & smile. You are going to be living with those catsters for a long time, so You would be wise to adopt the accepting attitude your Angel sister, Lexie, had "If you can't beat them, join them".
Hang in there Gwennie, co-habitating with a couple of cats can make for an interesting and, yes, sometime annoying life.

oh Gwennie, may the force be with you, young Jedi. Hopefully, he will notice that the kitty cuteness is all a sham.

Gwennie, don't let them get the better of you! I think in time you will build up a stronger tolerance for their wily ways. They may act like they are smarter than you, but who's typing the blog post, eh? I'm glad you shared your feelings with us, that's good for you. Although the fuzzy kittens are a mystery, your mom gets lots of enjoyment out of them, so maybe you can humor her, and them a bit. You are one gorgeous canine! Ann TBL

Gwennie, this is Ellie Mae Scootles. I live at Casa de Cuckoo with Oma Linda, the two grands, their Mama, a grouchy but loveable human named Papa and three of the aforementioned feline beasties. When my pal Odin was here, I was second dog but now that he is across the rainbow bridge, I thought I would be first dog. Didn't turn out that way though....the cats actually adopted me and now I am one of them. It really isn't all that bad. I still go outside and make noises like a dog but they let me curl up with them and they are a lot of company.....give it a try. Heck being 4th cat is better than no dog at all.
