At a Loss

It is just a couple of days to Wicca's most sacred observance of Samhain. A time to honor our Ancestors and contemplate the ending of the year. The Wheel of the Year has gone through its complete cycle and soon we enter into the long sleep of Winter.

It is festive and somber both. Thoughts turn inward.

Yesterday, my son's close friend lost her sister in an unimaginably horrific way. She and another woman were stabbed to death by the sister's estranged husband. An "order of protection" did nothing to keep her safe. A brutal senseless crime, leaving behind devastated families and friends. My son spent several hours with his friend and her family last night, obviously a painful experience.

I am at a loss as to what to tell him. And when I talk to his friend there will be no words one can say except "I am here to support you in whatever way you need".

This Samhain will be significantly different for us. Thinking about this 24 year old woman's death, a mother of two young children, adds a more sobering element to this day and night of remembrance.

That is dreadful. The only thing you can do is to be there for them. Totally senseless crime and sadly happening all too frequently. Just this past weekend, 3 blocks from my home, a man stabbed and killed a woman and her for children age 1 through 9. It was the husbands cousin who they had taken into their home. He was basically jealous because others were doing better than him.

Being in the law enforcement field does not make stories like this any easier to read. I can imagine the emotions you are feeling. Being there for them is all you can really do.

Blessed Be

I can not imagine the sense of loss everyone must be experiencing. All will be in my prayers, I will light a candle tonight.

I am so very sorry for this loss, and for the evil which still stalks. I hope that this season brings some peace to all of those who have passed this year and to their families. x

I am so sorry to hear this. Expressing your love and care for them and offering to do any mundane chores for those that are left grieving is always helpful. Grocery shopping, meals, babysitting... anything will be appreciated.... and prayers <3

What a hellacious thing to have to deal with. My heart goes out to all who have lost in this senseless act. All you can do is just be there if they need you. Yes, it does bring the somber back to focus when things like this happen. Wishing you well, Oma Linda
