Monday Medley--Reading, Writing and Rosemary

Thunderation! Quite a stormy day here yesterday. Three or four storms moved through, with pouring rain, booming thunder. It is nice to get a break from watering the garden and container plantings, but it did keep me inside, and as always, scares the heck out of my sheltie dog, Gwennie. Poor little thing either hides in the downstairs bathroom or sticks to me like glue.

Speaking of the garden, I am in process of drying rosemary for both magickal and culinary purposes. Soon I will be drying parsley, sage, thyme, chamomile and a couple of other herbs. I have all those wonderful little jars to fill and it truly is a satisfying process. Growing from seed, tending, harvesting and drying. This is the first year I have added growing herbs to my magickal path. Love it! Definitely planting more next year.

Here's a little secret: I am writing a story to post on the blog. I used to write short stories way back when, and recently started up again. We will see how it turns out; I will let you know.

Audio Book Progress: A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin. I have not listened to the book since about 4 days before Raethan's wedding. At that time, I had made it to disc 11, with 27 discs to go. Regretfully I don't think I am going to finish the cds. I can not take the reader I am sorry I just can not do it no offense to the man really but OMG his voice drives me insane I hate the way he makes the female characters all sound like ancient women even the young girls and some of the male characters sound like a bad rendition of Blackbeard the pirate and really I am longing to actually read the book so I am just going to go buy the book even though we paid for the audio version perhaps I can sell that on ebay or amazon.  WHEW! Glad I got that out. Sorry,  Kallan, we will have to wait a bit longer for our Dragon discussion.

Well, then, sending out Monday greetings and wishing everyone a great, good week.

I do miss drying herbs. I bought everything for a back porch garden this year and then got the news that we weren't sure if we would have to move or not, so it all still sits in a bag. Hopefully, it will all be good for next year.

I have to admit that I and herbs don´t agree :-) :-) I usually fail totally when trying to grow them and still I have a perfect soil for most of them :-) :-)

I love to write short stories! Looking forward to read one of Yours!

Have a great day!

Drying herbs is wonderful! I love it! We had bad thunderstorms yesterday too. Actually, one part of Ontario was hit really bad, they think it was a tornado. One person died! I can't wait to read your short story! Have a great day!

Ahh, poor Gwennie. My parents used to have a poodle who would hide behind the toilet and shake uncontrollably in the bathroom everytime it stormed.(can't blame her, it scares me, too!)

Can't wait to read your stories!!! ;)

My poor Robin.. that would drive me insane! I am happy to wait for our discussion. Do you have a Kindle? I wonder if I could lend you mine?

Glad to hear you got some rain. The plants really perk up when that occurs. :0)
And a herb garden will definitely be in the works for me at the new place. How are you drying your herbs? The old fashioned way by hanging them upside down or with a dehydrator?
Anxiously awaiting your short story....

This is the second year for my herb garden and it's thriving. There's so much sage and oregano I'll be sharing with friends and neighbors and strangers on the street just so it doesn't go to waste. I still haven't used all of basil that I dried last year and soon I'll be drying more.
Looking forward to your story.

I love drying herbs too. I just got done drying some mint and strawberry leaves. I love growing things as well and plants seem to really like me. I love thunderstorms and luckily the dog we have now is not afraid of them. Our former dog was really terrified of them. I am looking forward to the story as well. I'm a writer and love to write poetry.

If anyone wants to see my writing they can go to my blog at: http://witchywritings.blogspot.com/

Thanks!

I can't wait to read your story, Robin. What a treat for us all.

I know what you mean about growing herbs from seed. I am quickly filling up my new greenhouse with all of those heavenly scents! I hope you talk more about your magickal path, that sounds intriguing. ~Lili
