Because of the Brave

Veteran's Day has come round again. I join in with honoring all the men and women who have served the United States during war and peacetime. It does seem a very long time since we have seen peacetime.  I will repeat a phrase I love, which I have used here before:  "Home of the Free, Because of the Brave."  My heartfelt good wishes and gratitude go out to all who have served and are serving now.

My dad was a veteran of World War I. My husband is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired after 24 years of service. His father was a veteran of World War II. My dearest friend and godmother to our children is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Persian Gulf.

No matter the stance one has on wars and armed conflicts, or one's political views, the fact that our military is ready to serve, ready to risk life and limb, that so many have been killed, maimed and suffer countless other traumas on behalf of our country--we must support them, honor them, help them when they return home. We must thank them, believe in them and be proud of our fellow Americans.

Today also is a special day for our family. My darling husband was born on Veteran's Day, November 11th (um...some years ago, lol). Happy Birthday, Hunny Bunny! We are all very proud of you!

Three cheers for all our veterans!

I am very proud of our veterans as well. Ask your dad if he know Point Blank vests. That's what we do, we make the bullet proof vests our soldiers wear. Say thank you to your dad for me.

A HUGE BLESSED BE to that Robin! I, myself, have a very hard time with disrespect on this particular issue. Almost all of the men in mine and my hubby's family (including hubby) have served in some branch of the miltary. ;)

I also happen to have friends from all walks of life, race, religion, etc. who also have served to protect our freedoms which we all reap benefit of.

My thoughts go out to all of them and their families on this and all Veteran's Days!

Blessings,

Kim

A huge thank you to your husband, dad, and to all veterans, as well as those currently serving.

I would like to give a tip of my hat to my father who served at the end of WWII and helped with the rescue of people left in two concentration camps. It was he and his experiences which taught me, more than anything, that ignorance and prejudice are fatal.

I just finished watching Canada's national Remembrance Day ceremony on TV. Very moving, as always.

Happy birthday to your husband -- he was born on an auspicious day.

Happy Birthday to your husband, Robin as well as a big "thank you" to him for his service to our country and all of us. We have a large military presence in our family as well and Veteran's Day is special because of that and also because of my husband's birthday! His dad lost his life in Vietnam, I had two uncles serve in WWII, a brother who served during the Vietnam war, a brother-in-law who is retired Air Force and a nephew who is currently stateside with the army, but did three tours of Iraq. Thank you for your words of honor - too many of us take it for granted. And I cannot remember a time in my life when the US was not somehow engaged in some conflict somewhere. My heart goes out to people who have lived their whole lives in countries that have never seen peace. We are truly fortunate. Ann
